Community Priorities

  1. Connection
    • Strengthen social and civic engagement by supporting partnerships that enhance connectivity, promote sustainability, and improve transit/walkability.
    • Foster collaborations across sectors (government, businesses, academia, community groups) to build a more cohesive and environmentally conscious community.
    • Recognize and celebrate community milestones or anniversaries that highlight local heritage, sustainability efforts, and achievements, contributing to a stronger community identity.
  2. Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
    • Reduce barriers to municipal programs, services, and infrastructure, ensuring accessibility for all residents, including marginalized groups, and promote eco-friendly infrastructure that enhances inclusion.
    • Prioritize diversity, equity, and inclusion by celebrating Clarington’s growing diversity, supporting Truth and Reconciliation initiatives, and implementing Indigenous engagement strategies with environmental sustainability in mind.
    • Fund initiatives that address intimate partner violence and ensure safe, healthy living environments, focusing on both human well-being and the protection of the natural environment.
  3. Community Safety and Wellbeing
    • Support projects that enhance community safety, including traffic calming measures, walkability improvements, and green infrastructure projects that promote a healthy, livable community.
    • Fund initiatives that improve access to healthcare services, mental health support, and environmental factors contributing to overall well-being.
    • Invest in housing solutions that are environmentally sustainable and meet the evolving needs of the community, including energy-efficient, affordable housing.
  4. Arts, Culture, and Recreation
    • Support innovative projects in the arts, culture, and heritage sectors, including events and festivals that integrate environmental awareness and sustainability.
    • Encourage projects that explore sustainable recreational and cultural infrastructure, such as multi-use facilities, green spaces, and performance venues that minimize environmental impact.
    • Promote initiatives that integrate arts, culture, and recreation into broader community engagement efforts, ensuring they are inclusive, accessible, and environmentally conscious.
